Elana Meyers Taylor won her first gold medal, and sixth overall, taking first in women's monobob. She is now tied with Bonnie Blair as the most decorated female American winter Olympian. Her teammate, Kallie Humphries, took bronze.
In bobsled, it was a banner day for the American women in the monobob. Elana Meyers Taylor and Kaillie Humphries both flew around the track as they finished on the podium. Meyers Taylor won her first gold medal and became the oldest women's bobsled medalist at 41 years old, and Humphries took home the bronze medal.
Sweden bowed to the somewhat inevitable when falling to tournament favourites the United States in the women's Olympic ice hockey semi-final on Monday, but their ambition of winning a first medal in 20 years is still on track.
